Kevin L. Burke, President and CEO

Mr. Burke is president and CEO of Provider, accountable for the overall performance of the Community and leader of the management team.  Mr. Burke’s primary role is the oversight of several corporate entities including the Provider and development of the strategic direction for the organization.  With formal training in hospitality management and 20+ years of leading senior living organizations, Mr. Burke’s focus has been on introducing innovative technologies that advance the aging services field.  He has served as executive vice president for a national management company as well as executive director for several senior living retirement communities.

Mr. Burke holds an MBA and a BS in hospitality management from Rochester Institute of Technology and is a licensed nursing home administrator. He is an active member of the Needham Exchange Club, a Director of the Wellesley Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Patient Satisfaction Committee of the Beth Israel Deaconess Needham Hospital. Mr. Burke is also currently the Chairman of the Board of LeadingAge of Massachusetts, is a member of the LeadingAge National Policy Congress, and is a frequent speaker at industry trade association meetings.

Jean Paul Gosselin, Chief Financial Officer

As CFO, Mr. Gosselin is responsible for the financial strategy, investment, resource management and growth of North Hill Communities. He has a wealth of experience with various companies performing accounting and operational management, budgeting and planning, financing, government cost accounting, international management, contracting and risk management. 

Mr. Gosselin holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia University and a BS from Boston College. He is also a CPA and a member of AICPA. 

David J. Maw, VP Operations / Executive Director

Mr. Maw was a member of the original leadership team that opened North Hill in 1984 and now serves as Executive Director, responsible for oversight for North Hill operations. Mr. Maw has served in various roles including Dining Services Director and Associate Director. Mr. Maw has provided consulting services to Life Care Services (LCS) and other retirement communities in the Boston area and was instrumental in successfully developing the first networking coalition for department directors of area retirement communities. 

Mr. Maw received a MS in Management from Bridgewater State College and a BS in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s College (ME). He served as adjunct faculty, teaching Business Management at Stonehill College and has presented at multiple conferences and seminars.

Rebecca Donato, VP Business Development / Project Manager

As VP Business Development, Rebecca Donato is responsible for oversight of Project True North and development of services that meet the strategic growth and expansion goals for North Hill. As a former operations consultant with a national company, Ms. Donato brings her experience in supporting the operations of new and existing CCRCs. In addition to project oversight, her areas of responsibility include new product and services development, corporate branding and innovation management. Previous projects for North Hill have included development of memory care services, experiential marketing programming and multi-dimensional wellness programming. 

Ms. Donato holds an MBA from Georgetown University and Bachelor of Music from NYU. She is a Nursing Home Administrator, a member of the national LeadingAge Innovation Cabinet and Vice Chair of the LeadingAge Leadership Academy Alumni Network.

Anne Orens, Governance Specialist

Ms. Orens’ role is to develop, maintain and facilitate the communication, operational, and procedural structures of our growing, not-for-profit aging services system as it expands from one parent company to a multi-organization entity. She works with the parent board, subsidiary boards and President to develop and facilitate the strategic plan of the parent organization and corresponding corporate performance improvement initiatives, policies and procedures of each subsidiary organization.

Anne has significant experience in leadership, project management, and client development roles for companies in publishing, knowledge management and software development (including health care clients). She was Manager of Sales, Marketing & Circulation at Little, Brown and Company in Boston and Marketing Director for several digital publishing firms. Anne has served as a Board Member for the international Society for Scholarly Publishing and the Arlington Center for the Arts.

Anne received her B.A. Degree in History form Bryn Mawr College and her Masters in History from the University of Chicago. She also has a Project Management Certification from the PMI Institute.

Patricia A. Paulin, Director of Financial Services

Ms. Paulin oversees the financial management and accounting functions for North Hill. She works with the Trustee Finance and Resident Finance Committees and has served as Corporate Compliance Officer. Ms. Paulin began working with North Hill 23 years ago as an accountant and has served in her current role for the last 16 years.

Ms. Paulin holds a MS in Accountancy from Bentley College and a BA in Special and Elementary Education from Boston College. Patricia is a member of the Long Term Care Finance Association.

Darren Roy, Controller

As Controller, Mr. Roy oversees the financial operations and accounting systems for North Hill. He works with the Trustee Finance and Resident Finance Committee. Mr. Roy began working with North Hill in January 2013 after serving as Chief Financial Officer at Dedham Country and Polo Club for 8 years and Director of Finance at Children’s Hospital for 3 years.

Mr. Roy holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and received his CPA certification in 1990. Mr. Roy is a member of the Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals Association of New England.

Harold Goodale, Jr., Director of Facilities

Mr. Goodale was one of the first team members hired at North Hill twenty-six years ago and has managed numerous capital projects throughout his career. As Director of Plant Facilities, he is responsible for maintenance, improvements and operations of 560,000 (and increasing) square feet of physical plant located on 59 acres at North Hill. He works with the Trustee Buildings and Grounds and Resident House Committees. During his career at North Hill, Harry received the Jesse M. Putney Award for his dedication and extraordinary efforts as an outstanding employee at North Hill.

Mr. Goodale received an Associate’s degree from Massachusetts Bay Community College and attended Wentworth College where he holds Massachusetts licenses for Electrical, HVAC and Construction Supervisor. He is also a Certified Pool Operator. Harry advanced his studies at the Peterson and Carrier Schools where he received specialized training for gas controls, boilers and HVAC systems.

Adam Goldman, Health Center & Enhanced Independent Living Administrator

Mr. Goldman joined the North Hill team in February 2012. He is the licensed nursing home administrator of the Health Center and is also responsible for development and implementation of operations for the new small house Health Center and Enhanced Independent Living facilities. Previously, Mr. Goldman oversaw a $20M renovation and expansion of an existing nursing facility including the addition of an assisted living level of care in Weston, MA. He has also opened new transitional care skilled nursing units in two acute care hospitals in New Jersey and managed the turnaround of two financially and compliance troubled facilities. Mr. Goldman has been a licensed nursing home administrator for 18 years.

Janice Snow, Administrator of North Hill Home Health Care

Janice Snow joined North Hill in 2006 and is the Administrator of North Hill Home Health Care, responsible for providing quality clinical services to the community. Ms. Snow works closely with the Clinical Director to ensure that compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation are achieved, agency functions are consistent and accepted professional standards are maintained. Prior to this position, Ms. Snow assumed the position of Clinical Director (2009), Quality Improvement Nurse (2003) and Home Health Nurse (1996) at North Hill. Prior to North Hill, she was a nurse manager of a cardiac telemetry unit in an acute care hospital.

Ms. Snow holds a BSN in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts and attended Suffolk’s University Emerging Leaders Program in Management in 2008.

Janet L. Hirsch, Director of Community Life

Janet L. Hirsch joined North Hill in 2011 as the Director of Community Life. She provides leadership to all aspects of community life, including Cultural Arts, Guest Services, Housekeeping and community wellness initiatives. Janet serves a critical role in North Hill's mission to transofmr the way healthcare and hospitality services are provided to older adults.

Janet holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Trinity College, a Master's Degree in Social Work from Tulane University, and 14 years as a leader in work-life employee benefits and programs. She spent over a decade managing work-life employee benefits for Fortune 500 companies on behalf of Work Family Directions, Inc. (the first company to specialize in employer-sponsored benefit programs including plannign for eldercare) and four years as the director of Wellness/WorkLife programs for 6500 employees of the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Governance

We are a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Trustees from the surrounding local communities. Throughout our history, North Hill’s leadership has demonstrated exemplary financial stewardship, resulting in a strong financial position for the community and its stakeholders.

The Resident Association interacts with the Board of Trustees and management of North Hill to formally communicate the concerns and interests of the Resident body. All Residents are members of the North Hill Residents’ Association. The Resident Council is the governing body of the Association and is composed of Officers and 15 Councilors. Council meetings are held monthly and followed by a luncheon with a Trustee from the governing Board.

Currently, there are 14 active committees that report to the Resident Council.

John M. Tucker, Weston, MA - Chairman
Mr. Tucker is a retired controller for Cambridge Health Alliance, a leading provider of healthcare for the uninsured.  Trustee since 2007.

William F. Meagher, Needham, MA - Vice Chairman
Mr. Meagher is a retired former Managing Partner at Arthur Andersen LLP. Trustee since 2004.

Jennifer A. Pline, Wellesley Hills, MA - Treasurer
Ms. Pline is a Managing Director and the Chief Trust & Gifts Officer at Harvard Management Company, Inc. Trustee since 2006.

John C. Childs, Wellesley, MA - Former Chairman
Mr. Childs is a retired Senior Vice President for an investment counsel and family office firm. He currently has financial positions on the boards of two non-profit organizations. Trustee since 2000.

Barbara P. Madden, Ed.D., Watertown, MA. 
Ms. Madden is a retired nursing professor, a practicing nurse at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and a forensic nursing consultant. Trustee since 2005.

Theodore F. Parker, Wellesley, MA
Mr. Parker is a Director and Trustee of community organizations including local banking, charitable foundations, real estate related services and civic groups. Former Chairman and Trustee since 2001.

Ted Owens, Needham, MA - Vice Chairman
Ted Owens is President of Brown, Thompson & Company LLC, a consulting firm that provides financial and administrative services to emerging technology companies. Trustee since 2011.

Jennifer A. Pline, Wellesley Hills, MA - Treasurer
Ms. Pline is a Managing Director and the Chief Trust & Gifts Officer at Harvard Management Company, Inc. Trustee since 2006.

David Dinwoodey, Wellesley, MA
Mr. Dinwoodey is an attorney who provides legal representation to non-profit organizations and privately-held businesses. Trustee since 2012.

Christoph Hoffmann, Needham, MA
Mr. Hoffmann is a retired executive of Raytheon Company. Trustee since 2012.

Stephen H. Kott, MD, Wellesley, MA
Dr. Kott is a retired physician and former Chairman of the Department of Neurology at the Lahey Clinic. Trustee since 2008.

Barbara P. Madden, Ed.D., Watertown, MA. 
Ms. Madden is a retired nursing professor, a practicing nurse at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and a forensic nursing consultant. Trustee since 2005.

William F. Meagher, Needham, MA - Former Chairman
Mr. Meagher is a retired former Managing Partner at Arthur Andersen LLP. Trustee since 2004.

Kathryn M. Nicholson, Lincoln, MA
Ms. Nicholson is the Vice President for Human Resources at Nova Biomedical in Waltham, MA. Trustee since 2004.

Carl H. Novotny, Wellesley, MA
Mr. Novotny is a venture capitalist and a Managing Director of Venture Capital Fund of New England (VCFNE). Trustee since 2010.

David B. Perini, Dover, MA
Mr. Perini is the former President and CEO of Perini Corporation and Commissioner of the Division of Capital Asset Management for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Trustee since 2008.

Elizabeth P. Powell, Wellesley, MA - Babson Trustee
Ms. Powell is a retired entrepreneur and has represented Babson College on the North Hill Board since 2003.

Jesse M. Putney, Wolfeboro, NH - Founding Trustee
Mr. Putney is the former Treasurer and Vice President of Business and Financial Affairs at Babson College. He is a founding Trustee. 

John E. Schroeder, Needham, MA
Mr. Schroeder is a retired Managing Director with Marsh & McLennan Companies. Trustee since 2010.

John Schwarz, Boson, MA
Mr. Schwarz is the Chief Financial Officer of The Beal Companies, a 100 year-old Boston-based real estate company. Trustee since 2012.

Gail M. Walcott, Newton Lower Falls, MA
Ms. Walcott is CEO and Principal of Walcott Associates, a consulting group that builds partnerships between health care payers, hospitals and physicians. Trustee since 2009.

Sarah Wilcox, Newton, MA
Ms. Wilcox is a Senior Vice President in the Healthcare & Institutions Group at Bank of America working with non-profit organizations in New England. Trustee since 2012.
